Why we exist

Technology environments that work the way they should

Modern organisations depend on networks, infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cloud platforms, cybersecurity systems and backup environments every day.

When those environments are well designed and consistently managed, they support the organisation quietly. Users can work. Systems are available. Security controls are maintained. Recovery is understood. Technology becomes a reliable operating layer rather than a constant distraction.

Inlight IT exists to ensure technology environments remain stable, secure and well-run. We combine engineering expertise, disciplined operations and responsive support to design, operate and continuously improve the systems organisations rely on every day.

The objective is straightforward: technology should be dependable infrastructure that supports the organisation, not an ongoing source of complexity and disruption.

Our story

Built around clients who take IT seriously

Inlight IT was founded in 2018 by Alex Pletnev, who spent the earlier part of his career working on technology architecture before moving into client-facing leadership in managed services. Both sides of that background shape the company. Technology is the discipline; the client relationship is the work.

For Alex, technology has never been something to switch off from. It is what he reads on weekends, and the standard against which the rest of the company is measured. When the founder of an MSP genuinely cares about the engineering, it shows up everywhere: in the quality of architectural decisions, in the discipline of operations, in the calibre of the people the company attracts.

Our growth to date has come almost entirely through client referral. Existing clients have introduced us to others who take their technology seriously, and the work has compounded from there. We mention it because it is the truest description of how the company has been built: on the strength of the relationships behind the work. Operating since 2018, we are ready for that reputation to travel further.

What we bring to that relationship is depth. Across the environment, we act as a single accountable technology partner, connecting support, security, infrastructure, networking, cloud and automation rather than treating each as a separate lane. We offer the breadth of capability enterprise providers bring to large organisations, with the agility, attentiveness and continuity that organisations rarely find at that scale.

In 2026 we established a permanent office in Newcastle. We have supported clients across the Hunter and Central Coast from Sydney for years, and we understand the regional operating context well: distributed sites, lean internal IT teams, the practical realities of operating outside the metro. The Newcastle office formalises a presence we already had, and opens the door for more regional organisations who would prefer an engineering partner that knows the territory.

“Technology is the discipline; the client relationship is the work.”

The Inlight IT way

How we operate every engagement

Reliable technology environments are the result of deliberate design, clear ownership and consistent operational discipline. These principles guide every system we build and every environment we operate.

01

Blueprint-first design

We do not add servers, networks or tools without a plan. New systems are mapped, tested and owned from day one, so infrastructure decisions are deliberate rather than improvised.

02

Ownership and discipline

Every process, including patching, monitoring, offboarding and access review, has a named owner. We automate maintenance cycles and audits so that nothing slips through the cracks. Stability is not a checkbox. It is the underlying architecture of how we operate.

03

Security by default

Cybersecurity is not an afterthought. We build controls into identity, endpoint management, Microsoft 365, networks, backup and remote access, so protection is part of the operating model rather than a separate layer added later.

04

Engineering beyond ticket handling

Day-to-day support matters, but recurring issues, architecture gaps and resilience risks need to be addressed behind the queue. Senior engineers focus on the environment as a whole, not only the next ticket.

05

Business-centric thinking

We translate technical complexity into practical business decisions. Every recommendation is measured by operational impact: reducing risk, improving resilience, supporting growth and making the environment easier to run.

06

The Inlight IT standard

We treat complexity as a challenge to be resolved, not a condition to be managed. Structured environments. Disciplined operations. Engineering that prevents problems before they become incidents.

Operating model

A structured model, not a reactive one

Technology environments rarely improve through a single project. They improve through structured, ongoing engineering work. The same operating model applies to every engagement regardless of complexity or size; the difference between a stable environment and a fragile one is almost always the presence of this discipline. Reactive support alone is not a service model.

01

Assess and Design

Understand the current environment, its risks, dependencies and gaps, then design a practical architecture for security, performance and scale. Nothing assumed, everything documented; no change before we understand what exists.

02

Build and Secure

Implement improvements without disrupting operations. Stabilise first, then introduce change in a controlled sequence that protects production throughout, with security built into the architecture rather than added later.

03

Operate and Support

Proactive management and engineering support: monitoring, structured patching, clear ownership and escalation pathways. Not a helpdesk-only model.

04

Improve and Evolve

Continuously improve the environment as technology and business needs change, with a forward-looking roadmap aligned to the organisation's direction.

Leadership

Led by technical depth and commercial discipline

Inlight IT is led by founders with complementary strengths across engineering and managed services on one side, and commercial, financial and operational leadership on the other.

Alex PletnevManaging Director and Co-Founder

Alex brings more than 20 years of technology leadership across complex operational environments. He leads Inlight IT's technical direction, client relationships and engineering strategy, with a focus on building stable, secure and supportable environments across managed IT, cybersecurity, networking, Microsoft platforms, cloud and infrastructure.

Alex works closely with clients to understand the operational reality behind the technology environment: where reliability matters, where risk sits, where systems are fragile and where better engineering can improve control.

Natalia PletnevaCo-Founder and Director, Commercial and Operations

Natalia leads Inlight IT's commercial, operational and governance functions. She brings more than 20 years in senior finance and operational leadership across major Australian property development organisations, including Lendlease, Aqualand, ALAND and Coronation Property.

Across these portfolios, she shaped commercial strategy, financial controls and governance frameworks for complex, multi-billion-dollar development programmes. That same discipline shapes how Inlight IT structures engagements, manages commercial accountability and supports long-term client relationships.

Our engineering team works across managed IT, cybersecurity, secure networking, cloud and infrastructure, AI and automation, and IT consulting. The value is continuity: knowing the client, knowing the environment, and understanding what has already been changed before the next decision is made. What we ask of every engineer is the same thing our clients ask of us: fix the cause, not the symptom.

Organisations we are proud to work with

Trusted by Australian organisations

Our clients range from property developers and mining and materials handling specialists, to dental groups, professional services firms, engineering and architecture practices, and industrial operators. Many have been with us for most of our history. Most engage with us through someone they trust.

The ecosystem

Technology partners selected for operating fit

Inlight IT works across a focused technology ecosystem. We are not tied to a single vendor stack: each platform is assessed for how it fits the client's operating environment, then configured, secured, integrated, monitored and supported as part of how the environment is run.

Each layer is designed, deployed and operated as part of one environment. The full directory, selection criteria and service routing live on the partners page.
